Spooktacular Lessons - Meet the Master

October 20, 2019

Poe is the MASTER of spooky, horrifying and down right messed up story telling. And teaching his works are essential, ESPECIALLY this time of year. A couple of weeks ago, I shared my lesson for The Cask of Amontillado. But what about the author? It's important to know about the author in order to better understand and appreciate the work that he created in his short life.

This stations activity is designed as an introduction to Edgar Allan Poe and can be used with ANY of his literary works. This is not specific to any of his works but designed to be an introduction to him as an author, writer and person.

There are 4 stations included and you MUST have access to technology to complete this lesson.

Station 1: Video about his life.

Station 2: 7 "non negotiable" steps when writing from Poe (short article)

Station 3: Video about his literary works and style

Station 4: "Sneak peaks" into some of his famous works.

Each station comes with:

- Station plate with directions (and URL if required)

- Student worksheet

- Additional materials such as articles if necessary.

Let your students explore the master of spooky tales with this fun, simple and NO PREP activity for you! He's creepy, horrific and spooky - the perfect Halloween author!

Happy spooking!
